Preparing for the exam

IIC has developed resources to help candidates prepare for the CIP Recognition of Prior Learning Exam for AEC/DEC Damage Insurance Programs.

Candidates can register to take a free Readiness Test to assess their suitability before taking the CIP Recognition of Prior Learning Exam. The test consists of questions on the topics assessed on the exam and will help applicants determine the areas they may want to focus on when preparing for the exam. Candidates can take the test as many times as they like. It is highly recommended that applicants take advantage of the test.

Resources for registrants

When applicants register to take the actual exam, they will be given access to practice questions and a glossary of terms to aid their preparation for the exam. The questions are based on the four insurance texts used to create the CIP Recognition of Prior Learning Exam:
  • C11 Principles and Practice of Insurance
  • C12 Insurance on Property (Quebec)
  • C13 Insurance Against Liability – Part 1
  • C14 Automobile Insurance – Part 1 (Quebec)
