Exam format

The questions on this exam are designed to collectively assess the required knowledge for someone who has obtained an AEC/DEC diploma to be granted the four CIP credits and enter the CIP program: C11 Principles and Practice of Insurance, C12 Insurance on Property (Quebec), C13 Insurance Against Liability – Part 1, and C14 Automobile Insurance – Part 1 (Quebec).
The exam is based on the AEC/DEC Damage Insurance Competency Profile and consists of 150 stand-alone multiple-choice questions (MCQ), for a total of 150 marks, and is 3 hours in duration. The exam blueprint shows a breakdown of the questions on the exam by competency and associated behaviours.

Fees

Applicants are required to be members of their local IIC Institute. Online exams are offered one day a month in April, July and December in a virtually proctored format. In-person exams are available at select locations. Membership and exam scheduling questions can be directed to Member Services at IICmail@insuranceinstitute.ca.
