This seminar will provide an overview of the factors that lead to a hard insurance market, and outline how insurance markets change course. It will provide suggestions for coping with increased pricing, policyholder emotion, marketing strategies and tactics for communication.

The session will touch on current issues in commercial and personal lines and strategies for managing market forces with insurance transactions.

Brokers: How to get the underwriter’s attention and suggestions for marketing plans, dealing with client emotion, and making sure that you are not exhausted by the process.

Underwriters: Provides tips about how to communicate with brokers, maintaining etiquette regarding the market conditions, how to triage files, and optimizing your portfolio

Claims Adjusters: Understanding market forces at play in the insurance industry, reinsurance issues, and the effect on the insurance industry of hard market conditions.

Presenter:  Karen MacWilliam is a consultant and educator, specializing in risk management and insurance analysis. She was worked in the insurance and risk management fields for the past 35 years, and has been qualified as an expert witness in Alberta, BC, and Nova Scotia. She is a frequent speaker on insurance topics and helps insurance professionals enhance their technical skills.
