The Insurance Institute of Newfoundland & Labrador Inc. (IINL) is a not-for-profit organization operating under the umbrella of The Insurance Institute of Canada.

History

The first meeting of the Insurance Institute of Newfoundland and Labrador took place on October 22, 1956, at which time a Motion of Formation was put forward by M.J. Mandley, A.K. Ellis, G.A. Gregory and G.M. Walsh. It was duly moved, seconded and carried that the Insurance Institute of Newfoundland be constituted.

The Constitution of the Insurance Institute of Newfoundland was adopted on October 15, 1957 and the membership in the first year totaled 45. A Special General Meeting was held on April 26, 1990 whereby the membership voted in favour to incorporate. Thereafter the Insurance Institute of Newfoundland and Labrador Inc. was officially registered on May 28, 1990.

Today our Institute enjoys a membership totaling 560 compared to 405 in 2011.

Our Institute takes pride in offering quality educational material for our valued members and we appreciate the hard work and dedication of our Board of Directors and Committee members.
