Live Virtual Level 2 Licensing Course - Fall
C130: Essential Skills for Insurance Broker/Agent **
Dates: Sept 19, 21,26, 28 & Oct 3, 5, 10, 12, 2023
Time: 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. PT
Exam: Virtually-proctored Oct 20, 2023 | In-person exams are not available
** These courses are exclusively for British Columbia residents working toward a level 2 broker licence.
Exams for the special licensing courses have special time frames for appeals and rewrites:
Appeals are 7 business days after final grades are released.
Rewrites: December 2023; Deadline to register October 15, 2023
If you miss the rewrite registration deadline, you will need to retake the course.
The fall semester-based virtual evening and weekend C130 and C131 course options are open to all members.

Exam: December 1 to 15, 2023 | virtually-proctored or in-person

C131: Advanced Skills for the Insurance Broker/Agent
Dates: 10 Wednesdays | September 20 to November 22, 2023
Time: 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. PT

C131: Advanced Skills for the Insurance Broker/Agent
Dates: 5 Saturdays | October 21, 28 & November 4, 18, 25, 2023
Time: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. PT

Exam appeals and rewrites for the semester-based courses follow our normal semester guidelines.
Pathways to Level 2:
There are two options for you to achieve the education required by the Insurance Council of BC to obtain a Level 2 General Insurance Agent Licence, using the level 1 licensing and Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) education pathways:
Option 1: Level 1 Licensing Course (GIE), C130 and C131
This route requires you to complete the Level 1 Licensing (GIE) program, plus two courses from the Insurance Institute of Canada’s CIP designation program:
• Level 1 Licensing (GIE) Course
• CIP C130: Essential Skills for the Insurance Broker and Agent
• CIP C131: Advanced Skills for the Insurance Broker and Agent
Option 2: C11, C130 and C131
This route requires you to complete three courses from the Insurance Institute of Canada’s CIP designation program:
• C11: Principles and Practice of Insurance
• C130: Essential Skills for the Insurance Broker and Agent
• C131: Advanced Skills for the Insurance Broker and Agent
EXAMINATIONS and FEES

• For the CIP courses, students will need to sit for and pass a national exam for each course. Exams operate on a set schedule with exam sessions in December, April and July each year.
