Our Level 1 education will introduce you to:

Risk and Risk Management; Insurance Categories; Distribution of Insurance; Insurance as a Contract; Underwriting and Rating; Claims; Automobile Insurance; Property Insurance; Commercial Insurance; Ethics and Professionalism; Regulatory Framework; and Proficiencies for Success.

Cost includes two course textbooks, online tutorial, membership, exam, shipping fee, and all applicable taxes.

The BC Level 1 Licensing GIE one week course option is optimal for:

• newcomers to the industry who have not yet made a definitive career commitment
• those in junior or support positions seeking an overview of the industry and to further their understanding of policies and claims processes
• learners who prefer an in-class option supported by an instructor with a quick, immersion type timeline
• career changers who are looking for an entry-level program in the property & casualty industry

Examinations:
Licensing exams are two (2) hours in duration | 100 multiple-choice questions | 70% is required to pass.

Lower mainland students' exams will be held at the Insurance Institute of BC office.

Students outside the lower mainland, please contact Kaitlin Carmichael for exam date and location options. Remote exams are scheduled subject to proctor availability.

Once you have successfully completed the course, you will be eligible to apply to the Insurance Institute of Canada to receive a credit for the CIP course, C11: Principles and Practice of Insurance. The cost for this credit is $94.00 plus GST.
