This webinar is an introductory/basic session to help attendees understand some of the main differences between personal auto and commercial auto. This will be beneficial to those looking to switch lines from personal to commercial, those new to the commercial auto underwriting or broker roles and adjusters that want some insight as to the details gathered and analyzed in the underwriting process.

Topics Include:

  • Main differences between personal and commercial automobile;

  • Hazards associated with various types of commercial automobiles;

  • Coverage offered by key endorsement forms;

  • Different rating methods used for commercial automobiles;

  • Basic underwriting processes used for commercial automobile


Leah Strader, FCIP, CRM – Leah began her career in 1985 in Calgary and has held a variety of positions within the P & C Industry, both on the broker side as well as the company side. Leah became a Chartered Insurance Professional in 1999 and a Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional in 2002 including her certificate in both Risk Management and General Management. She has presented many seminars on behalf of industry groups and associations. Leah’s current role is with Sovereign General Insurance as the Senior National Underwriting Specialist for comercial automobile.
