The Insurance Institute of Canada is contracted to provide virtually proctored broker licensing exams on behalf of Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO). Virtually proctored exams are a convenient option that allow you to write at a time of your choosing, wherever you can connect to the internet.

NEW! RIBO Entry Level 1 Exam Candidates please note: RIBO has confirmed that effective January 1, 2022, candidates (including those doing rewrites) will no longer have access to the Comprehensive Homeowner, Tenant, Condominium Unit Owner Package Policy (also known as the habitational wording booklet) during the exam. Candidates will still have access to the Automobile Insurance (OAP1) Policy wordings.

The habitational wording booklet was initially designed to be used as a reference tool for the case study section of the exam and with its removal in April 2021, RIBO’s Council has determined the habitational section of the exam does not require the habitational wording booklet to answer the questions. Candidates will be able to use their acquired knowledge of property insurance and skills in order to deduce the correct answer for exam questions related to property and condominium owner policies. RIBO did not see a change in pass rates when the policy wording booklets were unavailable for the online exam during a three-month period in 2020.

Once you start the exam, you will be able to open the wordings by clicking a link in Question 1 of the exam. The wordings will open in a new browser tab. They will be password protected and the password will be provided to you.

Opening additional tabs will result in a breach of examination rules and may result in the refusal of the individual’s registration application, a suspension of the registration or a review by the Qualification & Registration Committee.
