When it comes to smart home horror stories, you’ve probably heard a few. From smart locks, to cameras, to toilets, pet feeders, crockpots and everything between—there’s a lot that can be hacked in the smart home marketplace. With more and more of your customers bringing these devices into their home, you need to be aware of the risks and potential claims that can arise.

Facilitator Edona Vila from leading law firm Borden Ladner Gervais LLP will guide you on the emerging risks of connected products and the evolving legal framework surrounding them.

You’ll be introduced to the risk ecosystem of connected products ranging from data management to cyber security to software failures, design defects, product failures and claims handling.

This presentation will outline key risk considerations for insurance professionals to help them:

-  Have the risk conversation with clients and potential clients;

-  Identify and assess liability risks associated with smart products/systems;

- Proper claims handling and defending claims involving connected products.
