Session B:
Lessons Learned: Risk Management as a Service
The insurance industry knows and understands risk unlike any other. Over the past 15-20 years, the industry transitioned from traditional risk management to enterprise risk management, and this new, holistic approach has helped redefine the notion of risk itself.
On the heels of our new research report, Managing Risk: Implications for the Insurance Industry in Canada, this session will explore how the industry’s success in managing its own risks presents opportunities to develop new services and help customers manage their risks.
Join our panel of experts for a moderated discussion on how brokers, underwriters, and claims professionals can work together to provide a service to policyholders and help them understand, manage, and reduce the risks they face. Imagine a future where vehicle, property, and business owners regularly seek advice from the insurance industry to aid with major decisions!

Resetting cyber risk
With the rising threats of ransomware, phishing and privacy breaches, the need for cyber insurance is greater than ever. Despite this increased risk, not all clients who need it are buying it. Additionally, due to market restrictions and underwriting concerns, not all who want coverage are able to buy it. How do we break through these barriers and create a sustainable cyber market for the future?
This session aims to bring brokers, underwriters and claims professionals together for a discussion about how we can create purposeful change in the cyber risk market. This session will explore different barriers unique to the cyber risk market and possible solutions.
You’ll leave this session with a clearer understanding of:
- What a sustainable cyber market might look like and how we could get there
- What triggers a cyber claim as well as current, emerging and future cyber claims examples
- Industry strategies for addressing ransomware
- Solutions for overcoming cyber underwriting barriers

Why corporate responsibility is your responsibility
A commitment to Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) is important because it demonstrates how conscious an organization is to their impact to society and overall, it’s a reflection of an organization’s values. Traditionally, this has been achieved through sponsorship of community events or charitable donations. In recent years, however, insurance companies have placed renewed focus on endeavors that create purposeful change.
This session aims to explore the methods of environmental, social and corporate governance that insurance organizations have deployed in recent years and their effectiveness. Whether you’re considering a corporate responsibility initiative for your own organization or evaluating the ESG position of a potential supplier or business partner, this session is for you.
You’ll leave this session with a clearer understanding of:
- How ESG has changed in recent years, and examples from within and outside the industry
- Best practices for creating an ESG policy that engages clients and staff
- How organizations can measure an ESG’s success and why measurement matters
- How ESG can be used in the sales process to evaluate business partnerships and shift the discussion away from price

Session E:
The Future of Working Together
The pandemic forced us to revisit how we work; from the ways we collaborate to the technologies and tools we use to do our jobs. As we look beyond daily case counts and passports, we are left to consider how to reach our full career potential in response to a changing work environment. While some companies are seeking a partial or full return to office, others are embracing a new era of remote work and collaboration. No matter the working arrangement, one thing is universal: the offices we left behind in March 2020 are the not the ones we have returned to.
This session brings senior leaders together to discuss how they have adapted their workplaces in response to the changing environment. You will hear from a wide range of perspectives on how to create dynamic and flexible work environments that build strong corporate cultures and allow for career advancement, collaboration and employee wellbeing.
You’ll leave this session with a clearer understanding of:
- How employers have responded to new and emerging workplace expectations
- Examples of what hybrid work looks like in different workplaces and strategies to adapt to a hybrid work schedule
- How senior leaders are working to create more equitable work environments
- Best practices for remote training and how organizations can create opportunities for advancement and career development remotely
