Angus Dickie, CIP
Angus Dickie graduated from SMU in Halifax in the early 1970’s. He worked in the insurance industry for over 40 years holding a range of roles from broker to underwriter, marketing and Branch Manager. He retired in 2015 and has been teaching the New Brunswick Licensing course since early 2020. When Angus is not working, you can find him exploring the Bay of Fundy and enjoying nature.
Babatunde Braimah (Babs), CIP, CRM
Babatunde has worked in insurance for over 25 years in positions including insurance broker, corporate sales officer, underwriter, risk manager, and claims specialist. His move to Canada intensified his desire to play in a more global insurance market. To this end he fast-tracked through the CIP completing all the exams within a year and graduating in 2019. He holds the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation and a Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP). He is a member of the training academy at AXA and enjoys his role as a CIP trainer at the Insurance Institute of New Brunswick.
Caroline Budgell, CIP
CIP Instructor
Caroline gained her CIP designation in 2018. She has worked for the Co-operators for 12 years, mostly in Claims.
She takes pride in helping others reach their educational goals by instructing and coaching. She believes each student has something unique to contribute and we can work together to turn that uniqueness into success. Caroline has four children and spends a lot of time in hockey rinks, soccer fields and basketball courts.
Debra Steeves, FCIP, CRM
Debra has been part of the insurance industry for over 25 years and instructing CIP courses since 2016. As a life-long learner, she continues to develop and strengthen her skills by completing the Instructor Certificate Program and many other training programs. She appreciates the opportunity to meet new industry colleagues and support them in their learning journey.
Jeannine Vautour
Licensing instructor
Jeannine has a long resume that includes management in the insurance industry. Early in her career she was a trainer for the federal government while living in Ottawa, one of the most enjoyable and rewarding periods in her career. In the run up to retirement she worked in the banking industry as both a manager and a financial advisor. She now leverages her years of experience when coaching students. She finds the satisfaction of teaching a good reason to come out of retirement.
Jennifer Silk, FCIP, CRM
CIP instructor
Jennifer Silk has worked across the insurance industry, and in commercial insurance for over ten years. She began her insurance career in 2003 after graduating from Mount Allison University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. She completed her CIP in 2007 and earned her Fellowship in 2010. Jennifer is now a full-time insurance and business instructor at CCNB. She also serves as an ambassador for the Insurance Institute. Jennifer enjoys working with her students and helping to develop their interest, knowledge and skills in order to facilitate their successful integration into an insurance career.
Jordan Thompson, CIP
Jordan Thompson hails from Moncton NB and has worked for The Co-operators since 2016. His current role is Learning Practitioner. Jordan loves teaching for the continual learning, both for himself and the student, and the relationships and networking opportunities it affords. When not teaching he can be found running his photography business, playing sports and caring for his two dogs.
Renee LaPlante, CIP
CIP Instructor
Renee started her insurance career in 2008 working in the claims department before progressing to Senior Field Adjuster. She completed her CIP in 2013 and soon after became an instructor for the Insurance Institute. She enjoys teaching as it allows her to share her knowledge and help others in their journey to becoming a CIP graduate. In her spare time she enjoys time with her daughter, camping, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Robert Bourgeois, B.Ed., CIP
Licensing and CIP Instructor
Robert has an education degree from the University of Laval, QC. He has taught for many years in the school system and within adult education. Upon completing his CIP designation, Robert worked as a Broker and returned to teaching for CCNB in Dieppe. Robert has been teaching CIP and Licensing courses for several years and enjoys the interaction with the students. When not working, you can find him on a golf course, camping, travelling, or spending time with his family.
Sarah Smith, CIP
CIP Instructor
Sarah started her insurance career in 2010 when a local agency needed some help to answer phones. Since then she has passed her agents’ license and worked in a sales office for 10 Years in charge of new business sales. All while studying for her CIP and raising her son. She completed her CIP in 2017. In 2021 she left her sales position to take a loss control position. She has been teaching CIP courses since 2018, and continues to do so. She is credited in the 2021 C12 Property book as a subject matter expert.
Simon Harisson, CIP
CIP and Licensing instructor
Simon Harrison began working in the insurance industry in 2006 and has worked in a large variety of roles. He especially enjoyed his work as a Claims Adjuster. Simon began teaching part-time for the Insurance Institute of New Brunswick in 2016. Since 2020, he has taught full-time. While insurance topics may not always stir a sense of excitement in students, Simon takes pride in the ability to build up the needed enthusiasm and zeal that people can have for this industry. He believes that quality teaching should be accompanied with a good sense of humour and a skilled use of examples.
