TORONTO, ON, JULY 22, 2025/insPRESS/ – On June 5, at STACKT Market in Toronto, Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade (WICC) marked its 17th year of support for the Canadian Cancer Society’s annual ‘Relay for Life’ event. An incredible $235,000 was raised for this year’s event, bringing the grand total of funds raised to over $5 million dollars since 2009. As a longstanding and dedicated partner of the Canadian Cancer Society, WICC has raised over $22 million for cancer research to date.

The event featured an opening ceremony with a first lap to honour Participants of Hope, as well as a Luminary Ceremony to remember and celebrate loved ones carried in participants’ hearts. A special ‘thank you’ to WICC Relay For Life Chair Amanda Martin, Director at Northbridge Insurance and the many committee volunteers for making this year’s Relay for Life a huge fundraising and awareness event. All funds raised go directly toward funding ground-breaking cancer research and providing a national support system to Canadians experiencing a cancer diagnosis.

What is Relay For Life?

Since 2009, Relay For Life has united a collective of Canadians, to take on cancer. At Relay For Life events, participants of all ages gather at a community space and take turns walking around a track or path to symbolize the perseverance and action needed to improve lives and change the future of cancer forever.

During Relay, we honour Participants of Hope during our first lap the Lap of Hope. When the sun goes down, luminaries light the track in memory of those we have lost.
