Social engineering fraud coverage has become an essential insurance product for organizations of various sizes and corporate structures. This session will provide a high-level overview of a standard crime policy including a discussion on social engineering fraud. Common claims scenarios will help highlight the need for this coverage. Finally, we will discuss how an insured's accountant may become involved.

Jordan’s career began
with Intact in 2019 where she has since gained experience in several specialty
lines, including D&O, Crime, Equipment Breakdown, and Farm Insurance. She
holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree and CIP and CRM designations. In
2022, Jordan received the Risk Management Certificate Top Graduate and Risk
Management Certificate – Top Graduate – The Stephen S. Imrie Risk Management
Awards. Jordan has extensive experience in handling complex accounts for both
D&O and Crime, including non-profit, private, and public institutions. She
has worked with financial institution bonds as well as ERISA bonds in addition
to handling complex Social Engineering Fraud placements. She has supported
onboarding new hires and provided technical training.Cathy Smyth, Senior Underwriter, Specialty

Insurance
Cathy has more than 25 years’ experience, underwriting
Employee Dishonesty/Crime Coverages for commercial, public and financial
institutions as well as Directors and Officers Liability. Cathy began her
insurance career at the Guarantee Company of North America and has since become
an instrumental part of Intact’s Crime expertise. She has seen her fair
share of Fidelity and Social Engineering Fraud Claims having experience with
accounts ranging from small non-profits to major corporations with international
exposures. She has delivered dozens of Crime presentations focussing primarily
on Social Engineering Fraud and is often leaned on as an expert in the space.
Dave Oswald, CPA, CA, CFE, CFI, Founder -
Forensic Restitution
Dave is a chartered accountant with a
passion for identifying and resolving fraud. He has an impressive combination of
forensic technology expertise, investigative skills, experience and business
knowledge. Dave has been working in the forensic field since 1999 and has helped
to uncover and prepare claims for a number of major companies. His specialities
include computer forensics, litigation support and data analysis.
