Presenters:
Ken De
Decker, CIP, CRM - Ken began his insurance career in 1982 in
Winnipeg. He has held positions of increasing responsibility (underwriting,
policy construction, branch management, broker management, pricing, business
analytics, claims interpretation) for major property and casualty Insurers.
He spent four years with a commercial broker in Winnipeg.
Ken became
a Chartered Insurance Professional with the Insurance Institute of Canada in
1991 and obtained his certificate in Risk Management in 1994. Ken is presently a council member with the
Insurance Institute of Southern Alberta.
He was an instructor for
the Insurance Institute of Manitoba for 9 years and is active in the industry as
a presenter of many seminars on behalf of the industry groups and
associations.
During the recent catastrophic events in Alberta
(2016 fire and 2013 flood) he was the lead at the corporate underwriting level
to support claims with policy wording interpretation and strategy.
Ken has recently retired and provides consulting to industry members.
Sherry Bignell, CIP, CAIB -
Sherry is Vice President and Team Leader of the Real Estate Division at BFL
Canada.
Sherry started her insurance career in 1991 and has worked with
clients from a variety of industries, but she has dedicated 30 years of her
career to Condominium Corporations. She has a strong background in
building client relationships, problem solving, claims management and risk
management.
Education is a key component of what she does, which
includes presenting at trade shows, speaking at seminars for property managers,
attending board meetings and AGM's, and teaching the insurance parts of the CCI
CM 200 and 300 courses.
Sherry is an active member of the Canadian
Condominium Institute of Canada, Southern Alberta, and the Association of
Condominium Managers of Alberta. Sherry has earned her CIP and CAIB
designations.
