The Latest Wild Weather Trends from ICLR at WindEEE
Facility | Incredible data & insights from the experts in the
lab and on the ground
Have you ever
driven along Veterans Memorial Parkway in London and wondered what that
building that seems to be from outer space is all about?! That is the WindEEE
dome, part of the Wind Engineering, Energy and Environment Research
Facility (WindEEE RF). The Insurance Institute has secured a rare and unique
opportunity for you to tour the dome for an interactive event that
will increase your knowledge of severe weather
trends and the implications for the insurance industry, homeowners, and
others!
One of the many practical applications of WindEEE
is that it can help us understand more about how we build homes
and community-level vulnerabilities, so we can draft better
building codes, and better prepare the insurance industry and society
for the present and the future. With the ever-worsening trend in weather
events, as well as
the
the potential
increases for personal and commercial loss exposures, the need for
up-to-date information is crucial.
Here
is an overview of the agenda:
- Impactful research being conducted at WindEEE
- Lessons
learned from the Northern Tornadoes Project
-
Impacts of the Northern Hail Projects
- Insights & expertise from the
University of Western Ontario expert faculty
- Increase high wind safety for
Canadian homes & implications for new home construction
- And a guided tour
of the WindEEE dome facility
Participants will gain the latest knowledge and trends on the
topic, as well as a first-hand, interactive look at how WindEEE research experiments
are tried and tested in the lab. Don’t miss it!
