In this seminar, participants explore the process of researching and preparing a comprehensive education plan. They explore the various insurance professional education resources and programs available, learn how they complement each other, and discover effective planning strategies that enhance their continuing professional development. Participants improve their understanding of the various learning programs available and learn how to effectively map their education direction.

Programs discussed will include:

  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) courses
  • Advanced Chartered Insurance Professional (ACIP) program
  • Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) program
  • Risk Management and Commercial Insurance Certificates
  • Commercial Insurance Certificate Program 
  • Insurance Institute of Canada (IIC) Career Connections
  • Linking the various programs available and effectively mapping an education direction

Presented by:

George Cooper, CIP

George is an enthusiastic and energetic individual with over thirty years’ experience in the education and development, management, sales, and service areas of the insurance industry.  A commitment to excellence and a sincere desire to help people succeed in personal and professional development are his most notable characteristics.

George achieved his Certificate in Business Management in 1989, his Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation in 1996 and continues his professional development through various educational programs.  George is an active volunteer with, and Ambassador for the Insurance Institute of Southern Alberta and the Insurance Institute of Canada.

Trevor Buttrum

Trevor Buttrum is an award-winning leader in the campus and career development space. He leverages 15+ years of strategic and operational experience to lead Career Connections (a national Career Education Program) at the Insurance Institute of Canada.

Trevor is committed to empowering individuals to become career builders for life. His passion for career development and talent management is anchored by post-graduate studies in both career development and adult education.

He has been recognized with multiple awards and honours including Campus Recruiter of the Year at the TalentEgg National Campus Recruitment Excellence Awards and the Moe Ktytor Award of Merit (Lifetime Achievement) via the Canadian Association of Career Educators and Employers (CACEE).
