Spotting black swans: A strategy for rethinking the
unpredictable
Popularized by economist Nassim Taleb in 2007, the concept of black swan
events — undirected events with unpredictable and far-reaching consequences — have captivated
the attention of financial and political forecasters.
In this session, you will get to know black swan
events that have both shaken and strengthened our industry. You'll explore how
you can safeguard your organization from the impact of black swan events while
building resilience for the future. You will also learn best practices for
advising clients about the possibility of black swan events and how to prepare
for them.
- Claims & Service Providers will discover the
impact of black swan events on disaster planning and preparation
- Brokers & MGAs will discover how to help
clients think about "black swan" events and what they should do to be
prepared
- Underwriters & (Re)Insurers will discover how
to better understand their exposure to "black swan" events and how to prepare
and survive them
