Title:The Driverless Frontier,
In this seminar, Kenneth will first take you through
the backbone of Driverless Vehicle Technology; The Event Data Recorder(a.k.a
the black box). In this module, you will learn about the type of data these
recorders hold, the types of vehicules that have accessible EDR's, and how that
crash data can be used to effectively answer common questions, such as: How fast
was the vehicle travelling before impact? Did the driver brake before impact?
Were seatbelts used? How severe was the crash?
Once the foundation is laid and an understanding of
what blackboxes are, and how they work; we will explores the revolutionary field
of the driverless cars from a crash reconstructionists perspective. Topics
covered will include a brief overview of the safety concerns leading to
driverless cars followed by the evolution of the collision mitigation systems,
how driverless cars operate, and how semi- to fully autonomous vehicles will
affect the analysis of the claims today and into the future.
