As a broker, underwriter, or adjuster are you involved in Oilfield Risks? Do you ever wonder exactly what processes are involved in the oil industry in Alberta? Have you ever been confused by oilfield terminology? Are you confused by figuring out the insurance coverages? If so we’ve planned the perfect two day session for you with two topic sections: O&G-The Technical Side and O&G-The Insurance Side.

O&G-THE TECHNICAL SIDE: We will first delve into the technical aspects of O&G exploration & production. This portion of the session will take you through the processes and contractors involved from drilling to pipelines and refineries:

  • An Understanding of Drilling, Completion and Workover Technology and the associated Risks
  • Replacement Costs of Equipment
  • The current level of activity in Alberta and Western Canada
  • The number of people employed for each type of activity
  • Training and certification requirements for people working in the Upstream Petroleum Industry
  • Regulatory Requirements
  • Insurance Issues, Examples and Case Studies of Upstream Petroleum Activities

We will also cover how the Emergency Response Planning is managed in the oil patch with the use of the operatives that are in place and its use as a loss mitigation process, discussion relating to hydrofracking, and some discussion on heavy oil (although it is not a focus of his session we will touch on it as insite production now represent over 50% production in Alberta). (for a full outline of the O&G technical topics covered please email IISA)
