The Insurance Institute provides study resources to prepare you to take the exams for the Alberta General Licence or the Alberta Independent Adjuster Licence. We have proven success.

General Broker/Agent Licensing


Levels 1 and 2

We provide a number of study formats to suit your preferred learning mode. We are pleased to have one of the highest pass rates for General 1 Licensing exams.

New! Equivalencies:
We're pleased to announced that the General Insurance Council (GIC) has approved the following course equivalencies for this level:

GENERAL LEVEL 1

•  Option 1: CIP courses: C11 (or credit transfer) and C130. Must provide proof that the last exam was passed within 12 months of the submission of an application for licensing to the Alberta Insurance Council (‘AIC’)
•  Option 2: Full CIP designation with proof that the last exam was passed within 12 months of the submission of an application for licensing to the AIC.

GENERAL LEVEL 2

•  Option 1: CIP courses: C11 (or credit transfer), C130 and C131. Must provide proof that the last exam was passed within 12 months of the submission of an application for licensing to the AIC
•  Option 2: Full CIP designation with proof that the last exam was passed within 12 months of the submission of an application for licensing to the AIC.

Level 3 

To obtain your General Level 3 license you must have completed your Level 1 and Level 2 licenses as detailed above.  You will then be required to successfully complete the Alberta Insurance Council General Level 3 licensing exam. Study materials for this exam may be purchased from the Insurance Institute of Canada. Please contact our Member Services department to discuss the materials and requirements for getting your license.

New! Equivalencies:
We're pleased to announced that the General Insurance Council (GIC) has approved the following course equivalencies for this level:

•  Option 1: CIP courses: C11 (or credit transfer), C130 , C131 and C132. Must provide proof that the last exam was passed within 12 months of the submission of an application for licensing to the AIC.
•  Proof of having the full CIP designation (no change).

 

Independent Adjuster Licensing


Levels 1, 2 and 3

The Insurance Institute is pleased to be able to provide you with the education you need to obtain your Independent Adjuster Licence in Levels 1, 2 and 3.
