Sophie's Purse

1439 Upper Ottawa Street, Unit 4 & 5, Hamilton, ON [Map]
Date and Time: May 23, 2019 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Sophie Grace Torrance was born on December 12, 2018 to Sam and Kyle Torrance (and Grand-daughter to Marg & Ian).  At one week old she went for a regular doctor's visit, and ended up in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario in Ottawa.  A few week slater at CHEO Sophie was diagnosed with a rare genetic conditon called "Microvillus Inclusion Disease".  It is commonly understood as intensinal failure; Sophie isn't able to digest food and will need to get her nutrients through an IV for life.  the family learned this would take specalized care, so shortly after the diagnosis this brave and beautiful little girl took her first fligth on an ORANGE Ambulance plane to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.  Sophie will be staying at Sick Kids for a few more months, where she will get specialized care, the family will learn how to continue to care for her and feed her intravenously once she's home.

A group of 'insurance ladies' put their heads together and have come up with a 'fun-d-raiser' for the Marg Torrance's family.     We hope you will join us in this venture.

Donations of 'gently used' purses are being accepted and on Thursday, May 23rd, you (and your friends) are invited to come to the Insurance Institute - Hamilton/Niagara Chapter and buy a new (to you) purse (or two or three purses).  Purses will be available for $10, $20 and $30.  There will also be a silent auction for a designer purse (packed full of goodies), a Wilf Lowry Print and more!
