Risk Management Certificate Program Courses

The Risk Management courses are delivered through facilitated online learning. There is no weekly live class, but all students follow the same weekly schedule for readings, assignments, and graded online interaction under the guidance of an instructor. Course materials include a text book and course guide. For more information visit program fees.

Time commitment: About 6-8 hours a week per course to complete readings, learning activities and online discussion.

We recommend that you take only one course at a time, and that you complete the courses in the order listed.

Please note:

Each Insurance Institute Risk Management course has its own final examination. These examinations are held at our proctored computer-based examination (CBE) centres. Your course registration confirmation will include details of your exam booking and how to request a change of date if required.

The Insurance Institute's examinations are separate from the examinations required for the CRM designation. Please see below for further information about CRM requirements.

Canadian Risk Management Designation

Students wishing to pursue the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation must apply to the Global Risk Management Institute (GRMI), which is the body that awards the CRM. Successful completion of the Insurance Institute’s risk management courses will allow individuals to meet the foundational course requirements for the CRM.

All CRM candidates must also pass standardized exams administered by GRMI. Once registered in an Insurance Institute risk management course, students can contact GRMI to register for the corresponding GRMI exam.

Please consult the Global Risk Management Institute for complete details of the steps for obtaining the CRM designation.
