Terrorism as a global risk is evolving. Greater
political and social instability have increased the risk for terrorism
and political violence, including riots, rebellion and civil war.
Methods used by terrorists have
moved from high-explosive attacks to mass casualty, and the targets have
moved from states to societies. The discussion about terrorism in the
industry is also shifting from damage to assets, to human costs, liability,
and the importance of crisis management in minimizing negative
impacts.
Join our webinar to for
a
review of the history of terrorism risk;
a discussion of our current geopolitical landscape, political violence and 'the new normal';
an analysis of international terrorism insurance programs (including TRIPRA and risk pools);
an assessment of vulnerability to an attack and scale of exposure; and a
review of risk mitigation and risk transfer
strategies.
After the webinar, participants will be
able to:
- Explain the relationship between political and social
instability and terrorism;
- Provide context as to why attacks and
incidents are on the rise globally;
- Discuss terrorism risk and the history of terrorism insurance in Canada;
- Explain
the types of losses incurred during a terrorist attack; and
- Discuss risk mitigation and risk transfer
strategies.
