The Internet of Things: The impact of connectivity and data on insurance

Connecting everyday objects such as wearable devices, coffee makers and cars, to the Internet and each other, is the basic concept behind the Internet of Things (IoT). The resulting networks will bring the future a little closer: fridges that remind us to buy more milk, office equipment that reorders supplies when running low, and on a broader scale, "smart cities" that help us reduce waste and conserve energy. With all of these new connections and exponentially larger amounts of new data being shared between points, new privacy and security threats will emerge. While the industry will need to tackle these new risks, there will also be new opportunities for insurers to make use of real-time data to upgrade existing products, create new products and leverage new connection points to manage the customer experience.

Join our webinar to learn about:

  1. The definition the Internet of Things and  examples of interconnected devices
  2. Privacy and security risks presented by increased connectivity
  3.  Real-time data and its effects on risk profiling, underwriting and pricing models
  4. Examples of insurance product innovation related to the Internet of Things
  5. The potential of the Internet of Things to improve the customer experience
