In this 1.5 hour webinar, you’ll
learn how to help your insureds to navigate between insurance claims
and eligible government assistance in the event of extreme weather events, all
while earning CE credits.
Severe weather is on the rise. We are seeing an increase in
frequency and severity of extreme weather events. Insurance is evolving as well.
With more events happening and more insurance products available, where does
government disaster assistance come into play? What is the interface between
insurance claims and eligible government assistance? How can your clients reduce
their risk and impact of an event? How can they shorten their recovery
Hear from Insurance Bureau of Canada and the Alberta
Emergency Management Agency on the collaboration taking place between industry
and government on recovery efforts from these major events throughout the
Brokers: Brokers and agents are on the front
lines talking to clients about insurance. This session will help front lines
staff understand how the industry and government approach the interface between
insurance and eligible government assistance and identify potentially
underserved markets and coverages.
Underwriters: Risk appetite varies between insurers.

Albertans face before disaster strikes.
Claims Adjusters: Claims
adjusters see the aftermath of severe weather events all too frequently. While
today’s policies cover most events, there are some things that insurance just
may not cover. This session will outline the interface between insurance claims
and eligible government assistance in Alberta.

With over 25 years of
experience in the insurance industry, Rob has held various senior management
roles in the areas of claims and risk management for some of the leading
insurance companies in Canada. Rob has been extensively involved in hundreds of
severe weather events across Canada and was the lead insurance industry claims
liaison for IBC during the Fort McMurray wildfire.

Brad Geddes joined the Alberta
Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) in April 2014 as the Executive Director of
Recovery. His experience includes time seconded to the Government of Alberta’s
2013 Flood Recovery Task Force, and 2016 RMWB Wildfire Task Force as Chief of
Prior to joining AEMA, Brad was
the Deputy Superintendent of Insurance at Alberta Treasury Board and Finance.
Brad believes in lifelong learning and holds an
undergraduate degree in Economics and Rural Development from Augustana, MSc in
Agriculture Economics from the University of Saskatchewan and an MBA from the
University of Alberta.
