Who Should Attend?

This seminar is designed for all insurance professionals who need to enhance their Condominium knowledge as well as Board members and Property Managers. Brokers, underwriters, adjusters, personal and commercial; anyone who deals with Condominiums on a daily basis.

Seminar Content:

This session will provide you with a general review of how the insurance industry manages Condominium claims followed by a classroom style claims review to better support brokers, underwriters, adjusters and insureds to understand how the policies should respond.


Objectives:

     - Understand The Condominium Act of Alberta with respect to insurance.
     - Understand the Corporation’s responsibilities for their insurance.
     - Understand the Unit Owner’s responsibilities for their insurance.
     - Understand how the various policies will interact.
     - Understand how claims would be settled between the various policies.|
     - Tips on purchasing, selling and adjusting claims with respect to condominium insurance.

  • Understand and be able to speak to the Condominium Act of Alberta with respect to insurance.
  • Provide guidance to the Boards and Unit Owners with respect to their insurance needs.


The morning and afternoon sessions will be done in a workshop environment - For your best learning experience please ask questions and particpate in the claims study workshop. 

Presenter: Ken DeDecker, CIP, CRM

Ken began his insurance career in 1982 in Winnipeg and has held positions of increasing responsibility in underwriting departments for major property and casualty Insurers. He spent four years with a commercial broker in Winnipeg. Ken became a Chartered Insurance Professional with the Insurance Institute of Canada in 1991 and obtained his certificate in Risk Management in 1994. He has presented many seminars on behalf of industry groups and associations. His present position is with Wawanesa Insurance as the Director of Specialty Lines.
