Northern Alberta - 24 February 2021

Virtual Convocation

Convocation is a time to come together with friends, colleagues, and family to celebrate your academic achievements and the important milestones in your professional life. While the pandemic has changed how we are able to come together, rest assured we are busy planning a special virtual celebration to honour the students who have worked hard to complete their programs and designations under these unprecedented circumstances.

The Insurance Institute of Northern Alberta Virtual Convocation will be hosted in early 2021. We will share more details with you closer to the time, so keep an eye on your inbox and this page.

STEPS TO BECOMING A CIP DURING THE PANDEMIC

When you successfully complete your final exam in the CIP program, you are automatically eligible to graduate, but a few steps need to happen before you can begin using your CIP designation.

First, we need to ensure you meet the academic and employment requirements of the program, including at least one year of full-time employment in the industry. If we require any additional information from you, you will be notified by email.

Next, the formalities begin! Your name is put forward for election at the next meeting of the Board of Governors. This year, a special election will take place in late November 2020. Students who wrote (and passed!) their final exam in August were eligible to start using the CIP designation on December 1, 2020. Students who completed their CIP courses in December 2020 will be invited to attend convocation as a graduate next year (2022).
