Are you a manager, supervisor, team leader, or someone considering a managing position (role where you would be required to manage staff) ? Would you like to overcome reluctance and learn more about how to address staff issues in a way that is positive, respectful, and that gets results? This training session might be right for you!

An essential part of being a manager, supervisor, or team leader is resolving problems with employees. However, this is one of the most challenging aspects of their jobs. Part of the hesitance and reluctance are experienced as people who manage and supervise staff arise from the mistake of confusing correction with discipline.

Correction means…

    • A change made to something in order to correct or improve it,
    • Addressing something that is inadequate or inappropriate to bring it in line with expectations.

The 2 most common scenarios encountered:

    • Managers/ Supervisors who put off conversations with staff until it has become a serious matter, and it has created other problems. Problematic and inappropriate behaviors get worse, mistakes impact the rest of the team and/or customers, the 3Ds (drama, disruption, and distraction) continue to wreak havoc and do damage, and we possibly lose staff who get frustrated over the lack of accountability.
    • Managers/ Supervisors who over-correct. This creates resentment among staff and the possibility of the claim of harassment and/or bullying.

In this training session, you will learn…

Positive Correction – how to provide guidance and assistance to staff to address and fix the issues before they get serious enough that they are in trouble.

Respectful Correction – how to talk to staff about their work or their behavior in a way that is respectful, considerate, non-threatening, and fair while still getting the results we need.

Proactive Correction – instead of waiting until the issue is serious enough that they are in trouble, learn how to deal with the issue earlier with a conversation that is less intense and less stressful for all involved.

Empathetic Correction – understand better why people tend to react emotionally when corrected and the best way to respond.

Relational Correction – learn how to correct staff without damaging critical workplace relationships.
