C27: Introduction to Loss Prevention
Introduction to Loss Prevention reflects the impact of
losses on the profitability of insurers. It concerns the vital interest insurers
have in reducing or preventing losses and the work of loss prevention
professionals in support of underwriters, brokers and agents, and claims
adjusters. You will learn about the loss prevention function and the concept of
hazard; explore the standards codes and the regulations used to identify
hazards; and examine the major areas of concern and the changing environment for
loss prevention.
Course Note: C27 focuses on fire, water, crime,
liability, and automobile fleet operations as the major areas of concern for
loss prevention. We strongly recommended that you complete all of the following
