Morning Seminar Sessions A&B

Please select your two preferences:

1. Autonomous Vehicles and Ethical Considerations
Autonomous vehicles are on the road. Within the next five years we should expect fleets to be taken over by AVs, first with a safety driver on board, then with no driver at all. In ten years, AVs will be regularly available to personal consumers. As an industry, are we ready and positioned for this seismic shift? From the way Ontario’s automobile legislation, regulations and policies are framed, to our adjusting, liability and litigation management, many changes need to be made. Join Kadey BJ Schultz of Schultz Frost LLP for an interactive discussion, including a live digital survey exploring the impact of AV ethical reasoning on consumer choice from a liability perspective.

Presenters:
Kadey Schultz  |  Partner, Schultz Frost LLP

2. Cannabis Legalization and Socioeconomic Realities: Cutting Through The Haze
We all know how the legalization of cannabis in Canada provides tremendous opportunities and significant challenges for us in the industry. In this engaging session, our panel of guest speakers will provide up-to-the-minute insights into the size of the market and regulatory issues, challenges facing police services and a fresh look at the impact on impaired driving.

Presenters:
Bryan Larkin  |  Police Chief, Waterloo Regional Police Services
Trina Fraser  | Partner, Brazeau Seller Law
Robert Solomon  |  Professor, Western University

3. Artificial Intelligence: Leveraging its Potential to Transform Your Sales and Service
Machine learning and AI are an ever-growing reality in the insurance industry, offering myriad opportunities to those who leverage that potential, large insurers and small brokerages alike. With Chatbots and enhanced data analytics already in play, what other possibilities does A.I. hold for the industry, and are you strategically preparing your business to take advantage of them?
And as A.I. begins to replace some of the more “repetitive” tasks in industry roles, how will this affect your career path, and what steps can you take now to stay ahead of the curve?
This dynamic and interactive session will leave you enlightened and excited at the prospect of enhancing the “Customer Experience” you offer by incorporating A.I. into your everyday business and industry role.

Presenters:
Rob Fursey  |  Consultant, IBM GBS
Andrew Lo  |  President and CEO, Kanetix Ltd.
Hashmat Rohian  |  Sr. Director & Managing Enterprise Architect, Architecture, IT Strategy & Applied Innovation | The Co-operators Group Ltd.
