Conestoga Chapter - Insurance Institute of Ontario is pleased to offer students, new to the Insurance Industry, an intense two week (10 days) Agent (Other than Life) and Broker (Entry Level 1- "Acting Under Supervision") program. The program is designed to prepare students for the Agent and Broker exam.

Participants will benefit from these learnings:

• Introduction to insurance business, the law and insurance, insurance contracts, insurance intermediaries
• The insurance company (the insurer), Government control, insurance organizations/associations, Insurance documents, common clauses and insurance practices
• Fire insurance - The Homeowner’s Policy
• Other personal lines - Liability Insurance
• Automobile Insurance
• Commercial Insurance for the Broker (RIBO) and Travel Insurance for the Agent (OTL)
• Claims and loss adjustments, re-insurance, risk management/loss prevention
• Two practice exams (does not count towards final mark)

Small to medium classes allow the instructors to provide our students with excellent instruction and exam results!!

Students must attend all classes as well as complete at-home assignments which will be reviewed in class, with the instructor.

Classes are On-Line Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., beginning April 17, 2023.

Agent (OTL) and Broker (RIBO) exams are TBD

Please have the following for the first day of class:

• All the material in the text pack
• Extra paper and a 3" Binder
• Writing essentials such as pencils, pens, erasers, highlighters
• A calculator and anything else you feel is necessary
• If you are writing the Broker (RIBO) exam, you will have to bring with you 2 passport sized photos, with your signature on the back of each photo. They do not have to be actual passport photos purchased at Photo Shop. Photos from a mall photo booth, Shoppers Drug Mart or printed on photo paper from a personal printer (color or black/white) will work fine (Agent (OTL) exam applications do not require photos.)
• If you are writing the Broker exam, you will have to bring a current Criminal Record Check (Agent (OTL) exam applications do not require Criminal Record Check.)

Please note - A Criminal Record Check must be included with your Application for Insurance Broker’s Individual Registration Form 2A, and must be current within 60 days of your application. There are two types of Criminal Records Check – Regular and Vulnerable – obtain a "Regular" Criminal Record Check only. Be sure to apply for the Criminal Records Check well in advance of the course start date. Not all Police or RCMP detachments can provide you with your record check immediately.
