Interview and Statement Taking
(9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)

When it comes to structural fire and explosion investigations, there is often a gap between questions the adjuster asks and the information the investigator requires. When conducting an interview and taking a statement you may only have one shot to capture an uncontaminated version. The purpose of this seminar is to show you how to maximize the intake of information through a Cognitive Interviewing Process that will allow for an easier and more natural flow to the interview and statement.

You will be shown how to recognize and pay attention to body language of those being interviewed and be in a position to quickly reset the interview and potentially avoiding unnecessary confrontation.

Origin and Cause – Fire patterns
(1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.)

At this seminar you will be shown how the methodical and systematic approach that encompasses your visual observations, science and the ability to recognize various fire patterns can benefit you in having a better understanding of the scene you are responding to thus having a greater understanding of the final conclusion that is written on your expert’s report.
