Emerging Leader

Vincent Gaudreau, C.d’A.A., FPAA, CRM

Vice-President, Les Assurances Gaudreau Demers et Associés Inc., Montreal, QC

“Vincent exemplifies the practitioner who gives back to his profession and truly advances the well-being of his profession with dedication,” as one of his reference letters stated. “The profession is honoured to have him amongst our ranks.”

In the ten short years since Vincent started in the industry, he has quickly distinguished himself as a leader not only within the brokerage but within the insurance community as well. He joined Les Assurances Gaudreau Demers et Associés Inc. in 2001 as a broker and became Vice-president in charge of business development and client services, and IT and web applications in 2008. His promotion was fueled, when early on in his tenure, he recognized the need to create a Web strategy for the firm. The young broker led a team of consultants to rebuild the Web site to increase visibility and to better serve clients. Thanks to his vision, hard work and ongoing strategic development, Gaudreau Demers’ Web places them among the best positioned brokerage firms on the Web in Quebec.

Throughout, Vincent committed himself to his education. After graduating with his B.A. in Business Administration from HEC Montreal, he earned his C.d’A.A., CIP, FCIP and CRM designations in close succession. And he committed himself to his profession: launching a new initiative of sales outlets in shopping centres; creating a microsite for personal insurance; initiating a wholesaler specializing in errors and omissions insurance; addition of Lloyd’s among the firm’s insurers, after finding partners and establishing the case; and spearheading head office’s move, including coordinating construction subcontractors.

“He built his career on integrity, the keeping of his word and most importantly, his desire to help his clients,” said his nominator. “He is a dynamic person who unquestionably possesses the necessary skills to build relationships.”

He’s built those skills in many relationships and roles with many insurance organizations including : Le Regroupement des cabinets de courtage d'assurances du Québec (RCCAQ) (director, currently); L’Institut d’assurance de dommages du Québec (Insurance Institute of Quebec; director, 2009-2011); Insurance Brokers Association of Canada, representative from Quebec region, Political Action Committee (2007- 2009); La Coalition pour la promotion des professions en assurance (Director, 2006-2008); Young Broker Network (Founding member, 2005- 2007); and L’Association de la relève en assurance (LARAQ), Montreal chapter (Treasurer, 2004- 2007).

He has also given back to his communities through the years as President of Fédération Québécoise des Coopératives en milieu scolaire (coopsco) (federation of Quebec coops in education community); providing insurance training at Service d’aide aux jeunes enterprises (SAGE), an organization supporting youth enterprises; and as a Member of the Conseil permanent de la jeunesse (Permanent Youth Council) giving voice to the concerns of young people and participating in making recommendations to the Quebec government on relevant youth issues.

As one of the reference letters stated: Vincent’s “ideas and expertise contributed to the completion of a very high quality assignment. (His) team was able to highlight many concerns and needs of youth, and this, while carrying out its mandate with professionalism and tact.”

It is with great pleasure that the CIP Society acknowledges Vincent Gaudreau as an Emerging Leader for 2011.
