Established Leader

Raymond White, BBA, BBED, FCIP

Southeastern Mutual Insurance Company, Riverview, NB

Raymond White has been actively involved in the insurance industry for over 40 years. As mentor, instructor and role model, Ray White has upheld the core values of the CIP Society. His accomplishments and dedication to giving back to both the industry and his community makes him an ideal candidate for an Established Leader award.

According to one of his nominator’s, Ray is respected both locally and nationally because of his “commitment to improving and enhancing the industry through education and his dedication to others.”

According to a former student who also had the opportunity to work with Ray for over 20 years, “Mr. White is very dedicated to his profession and promotes to his staff, agents and associates the importance of being educated in the insurance industry.” Ray has been teaching for the Insurance Institute of New Brunswick since 1973 and spent more than five years also teaching at the Memramcook Institute for the Insurance Broker’s Association of New Brunswick. Ray has also previously served as the Insurance Institute of New Brunswick’s Director and sat on the Education Committee for the Insurance Institute of New Brunswick and acts as a director on the Instructor of the Year Award’s committee for years.

Ray also takes the time to give back to the Industry in general. He is Chairman of both the Canadian Association of Mutual Insurance Companies and the Maritime Association of Mutual Insurance Companies. He is a member of the Board of Directors for SEH Computer Systems and is a committee member for the Farm Mutual Reinsurance Plan.
One nominator stated, “Ray is sought out as a mentor and is respected among his peers. He is never too busy to lend a helping hand and will always be there should anyone be in need. “

Both in his personal and professional life, Ray demonstrates dedication to the support of many charitable and community groups. He is an elected life member of the Kinsmen Clubs and has served time as the Bathurst Kinsmen Club’s Deputy-Governor. He also leads by example to encourage all of his staff to give back to their respective communities. For instance, Ray was instrumental in establishing a scholarship fund that awards four students in each of the three distinct counties that Southeastern Mutual serves in New Brunswick.

He also devotes time to teaching Fire Prevention and encourages his Fire Safety Inspectors to go into the local communities to teach fire safety awareness. He also donates personally to the Fire Chief Association, the Police Association, and Crime Stoppers.

After well over forty years of dedicated service working in the industry, Ray White retired in June 2010. The CIP Society is very pleased to have the opportunity to honour Raymond’s achievements and to acknowledge him as the dedicated leader that he is. Congratulations!
