He joined Promutuel Dorchester in Quebec City in 2001 as a P&C insurance agent; started studying for his CIP designation; and was eventually promoted to the position of Assistant Sales & Development Manager, thanks to his vision of development, his innovative insurance-related ideas and his great interest in the business. In 2008, he took the role of Office Manager for the South Western Group – Quebec Branch where he managed a team of 11, managed underwriting production and brokerage network relationships.
Since July 2001, he has been very involved in promoting insurance careers among young people by giving presentations in schools and colleges in the region of Quebec. He was also President of L'Association de la Relève en Assurance du Quebec (www.laraq.qc.ca) from June 2004 until June 2007.

He served as an observer on the board of directors for IADQ from 2005 to 2007 and as a director from June 2007 to June 2008. In 2009, he was invited to join the CIP Society National Council, for a four-year term, to help ensure that the Society meets the needs of our graduate members across the country.
As one nominator explained: “When Patrick has an interest for something, he commits to it whole-heartedly and with passion. He has always been a torch-bearer and a group leader, both in his professional tasks and his role within the industry committees and volunteer work. He is curious and has a thirst for understanding and continuous learning, he is always asking questions and wants to dig deeper into issues, whatever the field of knowledge.”
All of these roles have prepared him well in all aspects of our industry – claims settlement, sales and advice to insureds, brokerage, underwriting, human resources management, and administration. His extensive knowledge, in terms of networking, technical skills and business development, have prepared him well for his latest venture: his own brokerage firm. In 2009, he started Bouchard & Associés Solutions d’Assurances Inc.
We wish Patrick Bouchard well in this next step on his career path and congratulate him on his recognition as an Emerging Leader.
