As an underwriter and manager, Lindsay has an innate ability to quickly establish trust and build rapport with those she interacts with. She combines her people skills with strong practical and technical knowledge of the industry and has quickly moved into a leadership position due to her confidence and competence. “I would describe Lindsay as a key talent in the insurance industry,” writes one of her supporters, “and she certainly has a promising insurance career ahead of her.”

Lindsay’s passion for continuous learning has been a key aspect of her success and she completed her Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation in 2008, and shortly after, her Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) and Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designations. She is dedicated to both personal and professional growth and takes every opportunity to further herself, including participating in internal development courses offered by her organization. She has also started working towards her Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) designation to further increase her technical skill set and has plans complete her MBA on a part time basis in the coming years.

Lindsay joined Intact Insurance’s underwriting department in 2007 as a Commercial Lines Trainee, and since then has worked in ascending roles of responsibility, always performing beyond the expectations of her job description. She makes it a priority to share her knowledge and experience with her broker partners and provides technical training on various classes of business and risk management assessment. Her engaging style, depth of knowledge, and passion for finding solutions that work for everyone has resulted in her quickly becoming a key resource and partner with many brokers and brokerages.

As a manager, Lindsay makes it a priority to support her team to be the best they can be, and shares with them her passion for quality of service and excellence. “What sets Lindsay apart as an emerging leader is her commitment to her role and her team” writes a supporter. “Not only does she strive for personal success – she encourages the professional development of her coworkers by delegating projects and providing support during the process, which allows her employees to grow.” Lindsay attributes most of the success she has experienced to hard work and the dedication of her team, and the support of her leadership team.

Outside of the industry, Lindsay is involved with a number of important initiatives including the Movember fundraising campaign, during which she helps raise money for and awareness about prostate cancer. Since last year, Lindsay has been involved with the Raising the Roof Campaign, supported by Intact Insurance, which pairs with a local organization Our Place Peel a residential program for youth homelessness. In addition, Lindsay is involved with JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes as a representative on their Ride Cabinet.

The CIP Society is proud to honour Lindsay Mackenzie with the Emerging Leader Award in 2013.
