With a passion for the industry and for sharing his knowledge as a mentor, instructor and presenter of over 375 presentations, and author of over 180 articles, Glenn embodies all that is an Established Leader.
Starting as a road adjuster with Fireman’s Insurance Company in 1973, Glenn joined Crawford and Company in 1980 where he currently holds the position of Executive Vice President, Global Chief Strategy Officer. Overseeing strategic plans across the globe, Glenn works with business units to formalize, implement and measure short- and long-term strategic plans.
“Always friendly and approachable,” explains his nominator, “Glenn leads without pretense, and his jocular and down-to-earth demeanor makes him accessible to everyone around him.” Not surprisingly, Glenn has forged many friendships within the industry.
In addition to mentoring young people at the start of their careers, he helps established professionals looking to advance within the industry. Glenn will go out of his way to provide information, make introductions and suggest career paths and learning opportunities. Thanks to his tutelage, many have moved onto management and senior management positions at Crawford & Company, the industry and beyond.
Glenn is also recognized nationally and internationally as an Executive General Adjuster. For the last 20 years, he has been an adjunct professor at the US Federal Law Enforcement Training Centre with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). They honoured Glenn with its “Recognition Award for Support and Dedication” to their training programs. Glenn has also delivered hundreds of presentations to audiences in North America, South America, the U.K. and Asia Pacific.
A firm believer in continuous education, Glenn’s list of designations includes the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP), Chartered Loss Adjuster (CLA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He is also certified in Canada and the USA as a Certified Fire and Explosives Investigator (CFEI, CFII-c).
Over the years Glenn has contributed countless hours to the industry, promoting its image, development of best practices and continuing education. He initially was active with the Insurance Institute of Ontario – Hamilton Chapter serving on their board and eventually as their Chairman. Eventually, he served on the Board of Governors of the Insurance Institute of Canada from 1999-2004 and was Chairman of the Board from 2003-2004. Glenn is pleased to be a founding member of the Hamilton Chapter of the Ontario Insurance Adjusters Association and also the Ontario Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators.
A lifelong resident of Hamilton, Glenn proudly supports his community. He serves on several boards of local organizations, including Hamilton Health Services and the Hamilton Hurricanes – a junior football team he had played for prior to starting his insurance career. He has also organized many fundraisers raising thousands of dollars to help support WICC (Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade) and the Canadian Cancer Society.
Glenn has selflessly donated his expertise, time and knowledge to community and professional organizations over the years. His passion and dedication has earned him an extensive list of awards including the Insurance Institute of Canada’s Award of Merit (2007) and Mohawk College’s Alumni Distinction Award (2001) and named one of the “Top 40 Graduates” in their 40 year history (2008).
“He really is, and has been, the ultimate professional and a beacon for all that is good in our industry – a truly inspiring leader that many of us have had the privilege of following for a great many years,” says his nominator.
