Emerging Leader
Alex Stringer, FCIP, CRM
Broker, Assurances J.-Marc Beauregard Inc., Marieville, QC
Broker Alex Stringer is a team player and naturally draws people towards him, which is a strength he leverages in his work, in the industry, and in his community. As a well-respected and hard-working young professional, he is known for taking the time to listen and to get to know his customers to ensure that they understand the terms of their insurance contracts and that their current policies meet their needs. This people-focused strategy has worked well for Alex; last year, he was able to maintain a customer retention rate of more than 97%.
Alex joined the firm Assurances J-Marc Beauregard Inc. in 2013 as an independent broker, which has allowed him to establish his own customer base. He is responsible for increasing the brokerage’s sales volume both in personal and commercial lines insurance. Every year, he has increased his new business policies sales numbers while managing an important volume of regular business.
“Thanks to his large network of contacts within the industry and his good market knowledge, Alex is rapidly becoming a leading broker in his brokerage,” boasts his nominator.
While insurance runs in the family for Alex Stringer – both his parents worked in the industry – Alex understood from the start that he will have to differentiate himself in order to achieve the career that he aspired to have. Alex has a deep appreciation of the opportunities granted by continuing education and professional development. He completed his CIP designation in 2011, FCIP designation in 2016, CRM in 2016, and is currently working towards his Courtier d’assurance agréé (C.d’A.A.) designation.
Alex enjoys sharing his passion for the industry with other young people, and is one of the founding members of the Montérégie chapter of L’Association de la relève en assurance du Québec (LARAQ).
“(Alex) has taken on the role of chairperson of the Montérégie chapter in the first year of its existence, and he has done an excellent job of fulfilling this task ever since,” writes one his supporters. “I believe that Alex is one of the pillars of LARAQ. His ideas and his involvement contribute to the association’s continued growth.”
On behalf of the industry, Alex attends career fairs and gives presentations at various educational institutions in Quebec. He believes that by exposing young people to the various careers in insurance and by sharing his own career path, there will be more success stories like his.
His work with LARAQ enables Alex to collaborate with many different associations in the industry including Coalition pour la promotion des professions en assurance de dommages, Chambre de l'assurance de dommages, and Regroupement des cabinets de courtage d'assurance du Québec, which further increases his reach. In addition to his work with LARAQ, Alex is also a council member with the Institut d’assurance de dommages du Québec.
Outside of the industry, Alex is a dedicated hockey player, who was captain of a Quebec Junior A hockey team. Over the years, he has been named captain of his hockey teams many times, and is known for his leadership qualities both on the ice and in the locker room.
“Alex has always been a team player,” writes one of his supporters. “In the insurance industry, he is recognized by both insurers and brokers as a determined individual who takes all the necessary steps to reach his goals.”
It is the CIP Society’s honour to recognize Alex Stringer as an Emerging Leader in 2017.
