Demographic research: in the news

''

As you hopefully already know, the Insurance Institute, sponsored in part by the CIP Society, is in the midst of compiling and analyzing the 2017/2018 demographic research on the industry’s changing workforce. This new research will provide valuable insight to industry employers and to the Institute’s offerings to members and the industry, and adds to a decade worth of research published by the Institute since 2007.

This year, the Institute contracted the Conference Board of Canada to conduct the research. The research reports will be ready fall 2018 and will include the findings from the analysis of the 4 phases of data collection in addition to analyzing Census 2016 data.

In addition to the demographic research, the fourth report in the Institute’s Emerging Issues Research Series will also be published: “A Changing Workforce: Implications for the Insurance Industry in Canada.”

In the interim period, we are happy to share with you initial results, including information about the boomer-millenial flip in the p&c workplace derived from the census data. Read two recent articles about the research in trade media publications: "Millennials Rising" in Canadian Underwriter and "Preparing for the Demographic Revolution" in Canadian Insurance Top Broker.
