Rhind Scholarships
The CIP Society Rhind Scholarships support the values of lifelong learning and professional development, and are named after Chris Rhind, Insurance Institute President and CEO from 1976 to 1999. For almost 25 years, Chris worked hard in an effort to help insurance professionals get the education they need, and through these scholarships, his work continues.
Each year, up to four $1,000 scholarships are awarded to members who are interested in pursuing further education related to the p&c insurance industry. Three cascading tiers of candidates are considered:
1) CIP graduates pursuing their FCIP designation, which is not otherwise supported by the employer;
2) CIP graduates enrolled in insurance-related professional development, which is not otherwise supported by the employer; and
3) dependents of CIP Society members who are pursuing post-secondary education in a field that focuses directly on, or that would impact significantly on, the property and casualty insurance industry and/or related financial services.
Scholarships were first awarded in 2003, and to date, the CIP Society has awarded 33 scholarships, including two in 2016.
A completed application form, including a letter of reference, must be submitted by the application deadline of May 31 and will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee. Scholarships are awarded by July 31 for the upcoming academic year.
