November is Canada Career Month

An initiative of the Canadian Council on Career Development, this month is focused on supporting Canadians in finding meaningful and personally satisfying work.

Career Connections, a division of the Insurance Institute, is a proud partner and is amplifying their message to core audiences during this national celebration of finding a rewarding career path. They are participating in or hosting 30+ events this month.

Here are just a few of the highlights they have planned:

Feed the Minds of Youth – November 14th, 2018
Each year on a Wednesday in November, parents across Canada introduce their Grade 9 sons and daughters to their careers through The Learning Partnership’s annual Take Our Kids to Work Day.

In support, Feed the Minds of Youth luncheons are hosted at local Insurance Institutes and Chapters across the country. This event makes insurance accessible, engaging, and entertaining through speakers, games, and activities.

Career Connections supports these events with materials and sourcing industry Ambassadors to be guest speakers. They also help companies welcoming Grade 9 students on-site to host their own events through the Feed the Minds of Youth Event-In-A-Box.

All told, last year saw 1100+ students at 70+ sites nationally participate in these events and learn about how they might find their place in insurance.

TalentEgg.Ca Office Hours – November 22nd, 2018
A great opportunity for Career Connections to engage between 500 – 600 post-secondary students and new graduates in a virtual Career Chat. Career Connections team members will be on hand to answer questions from students and new grads about the industry, highlight resources, and help them connect their education, interests, and experience to the wide array of roles that insurance has to offer.

TalentEgg.ca is Canada’s leading career resource for students and new grads. Career Connections has a strong and long tenured relationship with TalentEgg and in addition to two other office hour sessions this year, will be releasing some day-in-a-life profiles featuring insurance professionals and articles on emerging trends in the industry.

Insurance Specific Events – Various Dates in November
Career Fairs, Presentations, and Networking events are abound to help career seekers connect with industry employers, hone their resumes, practice interview skills, and network with industry professionals.

Careers in Insurance Webinar – November 28th, 2018
In conjunction with Career Connection's partners at ACCES Employment, the team will be facilitating a national webinar for Career Changers and Internationally Educated Professionals (IEPs) interested in insurance careers. This is an opportunity to connect with professionals with experience in another country or an insurance-related industry (e.g. healthcare, engineering, finance, IT) and help them to find their place in insurance.
