History of the CIP Society

On October 29, 1998, the Board of Governors of the Insurance Institute had the foresight to create a professional community representing the graduates of the Insurance Institute’s Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) and Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) designations. A national teleconference was conducted at 15 sites across the country involving more than 300 graduates who became the first members of the newly formed CIP Society. Now the Society is a strong, vital and valued part of the Insurance Institute and the property and casualty insurance industry, with more than 18,000 members.
