The Insurance Institute’s CIP Credit Allowances for Wilfrid Laurier University’s Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program Insurance and Risk Management Concentration

 

The Chartered Insurance Professional designation program is the benchmark of professionalism in the p&c insurance industry. It involves a rigorous curriculum of study consisting of 10 courses: 5 Mandatory courses, 3 Applied Professional courses, and 2 Elective courses. Your Insurance and Risk Management concentration may qualify you for advanced standing transfer credit and/or exam challenge privileges.

Available Credits and Challenges

Students who complete the Insurance and Risk Management concentration in the Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program at Wilfrid Laurier University are eligible for a C11 Principles and Practice of Insurance credit within (2) two years of their graduation date and may challenge C16 The Business of Insurance examination within (5) five years of their graduation date.

Requirements for Credit

In order to be eligible for the C11 Principles and Practice of Insurance credit, the student must have completed a minimum of FOUR courses from Wilfrid Laurier’s Honours BBA concentration - Insurance and Risk Management. 

The eligible courses are:
1. BU353: Introduction to Risk Management and Insurance 
  and 
2. BU419: Property and Liability Insurance Management
  and
3. BU429: Capital Market Issues in Property and Liability Insurance
            or 
    BU433: Management of Financial Institutions
And one other course from your Insurance and Risk Management concentration.
    BU412: Services Marketing Management
    BU413: Personal Financial Planning and Management
    BU414: Occupational Health and Safety
    BU423: Options, Futures and Swaps
    BU425: Business Analytics
    BU483: Life and Health Insurance
    GG396: Natural Hazards
