Insurance Institute Allowances for U of C towards the CIP Program RMIN & RMIF
The Chartered Insurance Professional designation program is the benchmark of professionalism in the p&c insurance industry. It involves a rigorous curriculum of study consisting of 10 courses: 5 Mandatory courses, 3 Applied Professional courses, and 2 Elective courses. Your studies at the University of Calgary may qualify you for advanced standing transfer credit and/or exam challenge privileges.
• Must begin the CIP program within two (2) years of the graduation date from UofC
• Must have graduated with a B.Comm in Insurance with a concentration in Risk Management & Insurance (RMIN) or Risk Management: Insurance & Finance (RMIF))
• Must submit an official UofC transcript
• Applicable fees must be paid
• Must have completed the following 3 courses:
1. Introduction to Risk Management & Insurance (317)
2. Managing Commercial Property & Liability Risks (459)
3. Advanced Topics in Risk Management & Insurance (579)
Once this criteria has been met:
• Eligible for a transfer credit for C11 – Principles & Practice (mandatory course)
• Within 5 years of graduation date, may challenge:
• C12 – Insurance on Property (mandatory course) and/or
• C13 – Insurance Against Liability Part 1(mandatory course)
