Advanced CIP Program Courses

The Advanced CIP courses (course codes beginning with A) are delivered through facilitated online learning. There is no weekly live class, but all students follow the same weekly schedule for readings, assignments, and graded online interaction under the guidance of a facilitator. More details about course materials are included on specific course pages.

Time commitment: About 8–10 hours per week per course to complete readings, assignments, discussion and other activities. Each ACIP course lasts one term (12–13 weeks).

COURSE SEQUENCE

Courses are designed to build on each other. We recommend that you take only one course at a time, and that you complete the courses in the order listed.

Most courses are open to all Institute members. However, to complete the certificate you must have completed the CIP designation. Please see the individual course pages for details of recommended prior study and mandatory prerequisites.

NB: A350: Technology in Insurance: Critical Issues and Creative Approaches was launched in 2021 as the fourth ACIP course. It replaces the prior requirement to complete an eligible CIP elective.

During a transitional period, students can still complete the program by taking an eligible CIP elective instead of course A350. The tab below provides details of eligible CIP electives.

Students who have not yet undertaken an eligible CIP elective should use the new A350 as their fourth course instead.

Advanced CIP courses are offered in three terms each year: fall, winter and spring. The following dates and deadlines apply.

COURSE RESULTS

Final course results are available for paid members of the Institute.

Students will be notified by email when their course results are released. The release date for grades may vary by course. It is important for students to keep their email contact information up to date in their member profiles.

To obtain results:
1. Log in to your member account on this site
2. Go to “My Education”
3. Go to “My Courses” > “Course Record”

Notes:
1. The CIP elective course can be taken at any point in the Advanced CIP program, but must have been taken after you completed your CIP. It must be selected from the list below. In addition, it cannot be a repeat of a course that you have already completed.

2. With the introduction of ACIP course A350: Technology in Insurance: Critical Issues and Creative Approaches, the requirement to complete a CIP elective is being dropped. If you have not yet committed to undertaking an eligible CIP elective as part of your ACIP, we recommend that you complete course A350 instead.
