Aviva Canada has appointed John Lally as chief claims officer, effective June 2, 2025.  

Lally joined Aviva Canada in 2010 and has held multiple roles, particularly within finance and claims. He became vice president of claims performance management and insights in 2017, and has since led teams across data, claims quality assurance, fraud, casualty, accident benefits, auto and property.  

Currently, Lally is senior vice president of personal insurance claims. He will report to Tracy Garrad, Aviva Canada’s CEO.  

“John’s appointment is a testament to the strong talent we have within Aviva Canada and our focus on building and developing great leaders across the business,” Garrad says in a press release.

“I know John will lead our claims organization with integrity, ambition and care — delivering on our promise to be there for our customers when they need us most.” 

Lally emphasized the importance of efficient claims response in a statement regarding his appointment.
