Participant substitutions are accepted with 48 hours written notice before the event. DESIGNATION: When will I receive confirmation that I've completed the CIP program? You will be mailed a letter from the CEO of the Insurance Institute congratulating you on your achievement approximately six weeks from the date all grades have been released per semester. When can I begin using my designation? As a professional association, the Insurance Institute has a Board of Governors that meets twice annually—once in May for the Insurance Institute of Canada Executive Meeting and once in October for the Annual General Meeting. At each of these meetings, the board elects new CIP graduates, meaning that after students complete their final exam, they will be "elected" as graduates at one of these two meetings. Students who successfully complete their exams in the stated exam sessions are permitted to begin using their CIP designation on the date indicated in the completion letter. Can my diploma be mailed to me? Your diploma is beautifully framed as a presentable piece to recognize your achievement. To avoid damage to the frame, we do not mail it. When will I receive my diploma? Your diploma will be presented in person at the IIO Southwestern Chapter Convocation and Awards Ceremony. How will I receive my diploma at the convocation? Graduates will be announced one-by-one as they cross the stage. A picture will be taken as you're presented with your diploma by the CEO and Chair of the Board of Governors of the Insurance Institute of Canada. What happens at convocation? *Graduates & their guests should plan to arrive at the Brookside Banquet Centre at 10:45 am, where you will register at the front desk. (there are no physical tickets for this event). *There will be an opportunity to take group photos with your guests at the socials station. We encourage you to post #sw2025novgrads so the industry can recognize your accomplishments on LinkedIn. *Around 11:45 am, everyone will be called to their respective tables to enjoy a buffet-style lunch. *After lunch, graduates are called to sit in their assigned seats in preparation for speeches and the presentation of designations, certificates and awards. Graduate achievements are celebrated in the presence of guests, including Insurance Institute of IIO Southwestern Chapter Council members, industry leaders, fellow graduates, colleagues, family, and friends.
