About this course

In this introductory course, you will learn to define four types of risk, compare enterprise-wide and traditional risk management processes, and examine financial risk. You will look at tools and techniques to identify, analyze, and treat risks, and learn about global risk management standards and guidelines. This course is part of the Risk Management Certificate program.

Course goals

On successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

Identify and explain key technical information related to risk management principles and practices.

Explain how the Canadian p&c insurance industry has evolved in its risk management practices given new technology.

Apply the risk management process to solve a customer problem in a case-based scenario.

Credit recognition

This course counts towards the foundational course requirements of the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation, recognized by RIMS, the risk management society. Once registered in this course, you can contact GRMI (Global Risk Management Institute ) to register for the corresponding CRM exam.
