 GIEGeneral Insurance Essentials

Students will acquire a solid understanding of the principles and practices of property and casualty insurance in this two-course certificate program. Learn about the fundamentals quickly and easily…whether you are a newcomer to the industry or in a support role within an insurance company, brokerage or adjusting firm.
In some provinces, the GIE program is used for agent/broker and independent adjuster licensing requirements. Contact your local Institute or Chapter for information or visit licensing for further details.

Students may prepare for the examinations through distance learning or in-class. Registration procedures and deadlines vary with each tuition method. Included in each GIE package is an on-line tutorial.

Regardless of the type of learning format, students will write a national final exam which becomes the sole basis of their final grade in the course. Students must obtain a minimum mark of 60% to pass the course.

Note: Successful graduates of the GIE program will also be exempt from C11—Principles and Practice of Insurance towards their CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional) designation, should they decide to continue their studies.
