Convocation is a special time to honour the hard work and dedication of the Insurance Institute’s newest graduates of the Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) and Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) programs as well as recipients of the General Insurance Essentials (GIE) certificate. It is an opportunity for the insurance community to come together and commemorate the professionalism of the industry and its people .

Let us tell you a bit about 2015's event.....

The Insurance Institute of Southern Alberta’s 38th Annual Convocation & Awards Ceremony was held on November 25, 2015 at the BMO Centre.  280 people attended - Graduates, friends, family, colleagues - all together to say "congratulations". Take a look at the day on Twitter:  @InsuranceInsSA, #IISAConvocation.

Guests first enjoyed the Mimosa Reception and Industry Trade Show.  To the smooth sound of the Spencer Cheyne Jazz Trio, guests visited the booths and had the chance to enter a few prize draws. Here's the list of Trade Show participants:

  • Career Connections
  • Rogers Insurance
  • Servicemaster of Calgary
  • WICC
  • MKA Canada
  • The Network Corporate Search Personnel
  • Consolidated Recovery Group

The Reception was followed by a three-course meal.

We then heard the words of wisdom from Nathalie Wright, the Vice President of the IISA Governing Council, a greeting from the Insurance Institute of Canada from Bob Tisdale, Chair of the Board of Governors, and then we heard from our Keynote Speaker, Donna Bee.

Then, the stars of the day took to the stage to receive their certificates. We began with the GIEs, moved to the ICP, then CIPs, and followed with the FCIPs.  Each Graduate paused on stage for a professional photo.

The final item on the program for the 38th Annual Convocation & Awards Ceremony was the presentation of the National and Local Award achievement awards followed by the Milestone Instructor Award.
